In this paper we analyse the performance of noncoherent mMCSK-mMFSK modulation technique in a Rayleigh fading channel. The technique combines CSK and FSK modulation formats. The mMFSK component apart from data modulation is also used to decide the number of frequencies (mf) signal is to be transmitted. On each of these frequencies a number of codes (mc) of a even larger set of codes is transmitted. The technique offers high data rate cababilities and the performance compared to other modulation formats of the same order is excellent.

Ari Pouttu was born in Kokkola, Finland in 1966. He has scientific and engineering experience as a researcher, project manager and research manager in fields such as synchronization, interference suppression, coding, and modulation designs in spread spectrum and multicarrier systems. The projects under his command have resulted in EW waveforms and system designs for military radio communication and navigation applications. He has also been involved with architecture design for Finnish Software Radio including adaptive antennas and related algorithms. Currently he is managing projects that do research and system definition work on EW waveform and system designs for radio communication, positioning, embedded device network, and radar solutions. He is a national expert for European Defence Agency on numerous fields in radio technologies, serves as a board member in many national S&D projects and has organised several S&D related co-operation seminars with European nations. Ari has published more than 40 conference or journal papers in the field of wireless communications and he holds two patents. Ari is the Director for Security and Defence Research.
