This report will describe the results of data collected on the 101st Airborne Assault Division (AAD) Joint Network Node (JNN) Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET) during the unit’s Mission Readiness Exercise (MRX) and Unified Endeavor exercise at Fort Campbell, Kentucky in June and July 2005. The tools employed provided the capability to monitor the network in real-time, to identify issues and anomalies during operations, and to capture traffic flow and voice data for post processing and analysis from the unit’s JNN network. The results of the analysis can be used to generate traffic models that can be used for engineering of current and future force architectures and can be used to validate simulated architectures necessary for M&S, analysis, and experimentation, as well as to modify and develop improved network configurations for the unit. As a result of the 101st AAD SIPRNET analysis, a follow-on effort has been initiated to collect tactical data in theater and provide a reach-back capability to access the data from CONUS, support the unit in managing their networks, and provide engineering support to the fielded systems and the unit.
