After a brief overview of Global System for Mobile Communications, GSM, and a basic communication system jamming overview, we employ analysis and simulation to determine the optimal frequency swept, multi-tone, jamming signal for use against GSM. We show that the optimal sweep rate is equal to the GSM burst time. Further, we show that the jamming performance is independent of offset frequency. We also show that there is a performance increase by increasing the number of simultaneously jammed GSM channels, as long as the individual channel Jamming to Signal Ratio is maintained above a constant level.
