The technology and the very business of communicating continue to evolve at a breathtaking pace since Nikola Tesla made the first rudimentary wireless communication over 100 years ago. 

The “edge” of modern warfare is information: knowing more about the adversary, more about the battlefield in all of its forms.

Now, more than ever, this knowledge must expand beyond battlefield situational awareness and integrate intelligence into the military operational tempo. This convergence is happening in many diverse ways from the intelligence sources provided by the military via real-time UAV video feeds to seamless and regular consumption of intelligence in the targeting, mission planning, reconnaissance and execution of operations of all sizes. 

This convergence is a result of the natural and unquenchable thirst for information that provides a military advantage. But the demands for reliable, robust, secure, timely communications underlying it all have never been stronger and the challenges posed by the battlefield are increasingly difficult. 

The objective of MILCOM 2009 is to help guide you through the “battlefield” of communications systems application and engineering. MILCOM is the one venue that brings together the best of the best – from the engineering, science, industrial and academic disciplines and the operational and leadership military communities in a format that is sure to be right for you.

MILCOM offers classical technical tracks with authors presenting their work; panel sessions with leading experts discussing timely topics; keynote, lunch, and dinner speakers from government, military, and industry leadership; concentrated tutorials to help you understand a new topic area quickly; a large exhibit floor where you can interact with the developers and producers of state-of-the-art components and services, and much, much more.
