Panel Author's Kit MILCOM 2012 is soliciting proposals for unclassified and classified panels on state-of-the-art communications, networking, and programmatic topics addressing the next decade of military communications. A panel consists of an organizer, a moderator and 3 to 5 panelists. The organizer may choose to be one of the panelists or the moderator. Panels will last for approximately 90 minutes and will be held in conjunction with the morning or afternoon technical program sessions. Panel proposals are to be submitted under either the Unclassified or Classified Panels Track no later than 30 April 2012 (firm deadline) to: John Johnson, MILCOM 2012 Panels Program Chair IMPORTANT NOTE: The panel proposal must be unclassified. The panel proposal cannot contain classified, ITAR-sensitive or restricted information. Important Panels Dates:
Unclassified Panel Proposals: For unclassified panel proposals, complete the Panel Proposal Template. The person proposing the panel will be identified as the panel organizer on the template. See Instructions for Using the Panel Proposal Template below. Classified Panel Proposals: A Classified Panel Proposal is required for panels addressing classified and/or ITAR-controlled topics. The preparer of the proposal must be a U.S. citizen. For Classified Panel Proposals, enter only the Panel Title and proposer's name as Panel Organizer on the Panel Proposal Template. The Panel Proposal Template (Titles, Abstracts, etc.) CANNOT contain classified, ITAR sensitive, FOUO, or otherwise restricted information. Instructions for Using the Panel Proposal Template: The Panel Proposal Template describes precisely what information is required to submit a proposed panel for MILCOM 2012. The abstract panel description should not exceed 150 words and should emphasize the need/timeliness for discussion of the topic. A short biography (100 words or less) should be included for each panelist emphasizing his or her experience relevant to the panel topic. You may indicate that some of the panelists are “TBD” (to be determined), but a tentative name is preferred. Preference will be given in the evaluation process to proposals with confirmed panelists. A short position statement should indicate the perspective (implementer, end-user, etc.) and/or viewpoint of the proposed panelist on the topic. Various panel formats may be proposed. For example:
