Panels Proposal Kit

Panel proposals should be filed electronically by submitting a Microsoft Word or PDF version of your proposal to either of the Panels Program Co-Chairs at Cyganski_milcom2008@raytheon.com or McGrath_milcom2008@raytheon.com. A template for the content on the proposal follows below. Do not omit any information requested on this form.

A panel consists of an organizer, moderator and 3 to 5 panelists. The organizer may choose to also be one of the panelists. Time allotted for a Panel will be determined by the size of the panel. The abstract that describes the panel should not exceed 150 words and should emphasize the need for discussion on that topic.

A short biography (100 words or less) should be included for each panelist that emphasizes their experience relevant to the panel topic. You may indicate that some of the panelists are “TBD” (to be determined) but a tentative name is preferred. Preference will be given in the evaluation process to proposals with confirmed panelists.

A short position statement should indicate the perspective (implementer, end-user, etc.) and/or viewpoint of the proposed panelist on the topic.

Various panel formats may be proposed. For example:

  1. 10 minute introduction by the moderator followed by 10 minute position presentations by each panelist. A 10 minute period of questions from the moderator addressed to the panelists. A 30 minute Q&A between audience and panelists.
  2. A 30 minute presentation by the moderator based on contributions by all the panelists, followed by 15 minutes of discussion between the panelists. 30 minutes of Q&A with the audience. A five minute final statement by each panelist.
