Make our event evening — Monday, November 1 — a night to remember with a visit to The Tech Museum in downtown San Jose, next door to the Convention Center. Historically, each MILCOM has an event for all attendees that sets the tone and provides an inspiring and entertaining evening. This year will be no different as we take over the entire museum and have the innovation gene sparked in all of us. Due to time constraints the IMAX will not be open. The hands-on and interactive exhibits, divided among themed galleries, offer the engineers and "wannabes" a truly memorable experience you won't soon forget.

An event eagerly anticipated is the annual Chairman's Banquet where the best publication and technical awards are given. Our technical team of experts has selected the best in several areas to be honored. This is the time to recognize our outstanding colleagues. In addition to enjoying a fabulous meal with your new acquaintances and old friends, be prepared for some light-hearted entertainment to round off your evening

Named for the rich, red ore mined here during the 1800s, Cinnabar Hills offers golfers three distinct nines: the Canyon, the Lake, and the Mountain. San Jose's public course was designed by award-winning architect John Harbottle III. It blends championship-caliber golf with spectacular views, and is tucked in the peaceful hills located just a short drive south of fast-paced Silicon Valley.
Each hole has been crafted to maintain the natural slope of the area and to protect the wildlife residing here. Red-tail hawks, which inspired the club's logo, can be seen flying over the course and perched in trees. Hundreds of old oaks are incorporated into the layout, and seedlings from those oaks have been planted and nurtured to further enhance the landscape.
Don't miss this chance to play at the Cinnabar Hills Golf Course, rated one of the top 45 golf facilities in the country in 2009 and the best public golf course in Silicon Valley for 7 years in a row!

Spend Halloween in an exciting and unusual manner as another wonderful kick-off of your visit to the San Jose area and Milcom 2010. After the Welcome reception in the Convention Center, grab a bus and tour the Winchester Mystery House by Halloween and moonlight. This Victorian mansion, designed and built by the Winchester Rifle Heiress, Sarah L. Winchester, is filled with so many unexplained oddities that it has come to be known as the Winchester Mystery House.

You’ll have a rare and exciting opportunity to observe the bizarre phenomena that gave the mansion its name. For example, there is a window built into the floor, staircases leading to nowhere, a chimney that rises four floors to stop just 1 1/2 feet from the mansion's ceiling, doors that open into blank walls and upside down posts. No one has ever been able to explain the mysteries that exist within the Winchester mansion, or why Sarah Winchester kept the carpenters' hammers pounding 24 hours a day for 38 years. Whatever her motivations, Sarah Winchester built a home that is an architectural marvel in its own right. You'll tour the rambling, mysterious mansion at night with only the moonlight, a souvenir flashlight, and your imagination to provide illumination through the bewildering maze of rooms and stairways. But watch your back, Sarah could be waiting around any turn. This is one open house you’ll never forget.
Visit the City by the Bay and you'll see why everyone leaves their heart in San Francisco. This expert-guided tour safari provides a fascinating and in-depth look at the history and culture that has developed within the city's 49 square miles. You will visit historic and cultural landmarks such as Coit Tower and the Palace of Fine Arts, designed by Bernard Maybeck for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition.

Three photographic and 'stretch' breaks are planned en route, and may include Vista Point at the Golden Gate Bridge. See the contrast in the architecture, energy, and diverse culture of city neighborhoods such as Nob Hill, North Beach, the Waterfront, Pacific Heights, Union Street, and Chinatown.
Guests will have time to explore Pier 39 at their leisure, with spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay. A variety of restaurants provides the opportunity for any tastes and desires as lunch is enjoyed on your own. The pier is home to more than 135 specialty shops, a double-deck Venetian carousel, and the Aquarium of the Bay. During most of the year, a pod of pinnipeds — California sea lions — relaxes in the marina.
